T he constable called through the noise, ‘We need a volunteer!’ And suddenly was silence, such was everybody’s fear. Then came a voice, ‘Well, goodness me, if no one else will go, The speaker’s name was Gertie Gif, a lowly cleaning droid – the kind of drone that hi-res robots generally avoid. The PC blinked. ‘You don’t strike me as quite the hero kind?’ ‘Then go yerself!’ snapped Gertie and he quickly changed his mind. ‘Hail, Gertie!’ cried the townsfolk. (Their relief was all too plain.) ‘Now hurry off and do the deed – the moon is on the wane!’ ‘No time to pack!’ ‘No time to think!’ ‘Good luck and all the best!’ And so it was that Gertie set off bravely on her quest. I s’pose I’ll have to do the job – though how, I do not know.’
‘Hail, Gertie!’ cried the townsfolk.
